Mid-Winter Impact!

FUMC Youth Mid-Winter Impact

YouthMidWinter-Mod

Last weekend, 11 youth and three adults headed up to Glen Lake camp for a Mid-Winter retreat. We knew that we would be doing a service project, but had no idea what it would be until Saturday morning. We woke up, ate breakfast, and headed to the Glen Rose Expo Center for a morning of service. When we arrived we were told about several projects including window washing, picking up trash, and mucking horse stalls. Our students joined right in all of the fun and got to work.

When we finished our morning of service, the  owner told us that we had saved them at least two days of work! They had to turn the stables around in just 4 days for another 14 day rodeo coming to town. They asked if we could come back in 14 days to help out again. It was awesome to see our students be the hands and feet of Christ to many people that they will never meet, and they did it with a smile on their face the entire time. Way to go Youth!

Worship: Publicly and Privately being Present with God.

Private worship, sometimes called devotions, is simply devoting some time to God each day. It is a time in which you are alone with God to read, meditate and possibly journal. Some people prefer to do their devotions first thing in the morning. Some take time during their lunch break, while others prefer devoting some time right before they go to bed. Some people sit in a quiet place, some sit outside, some even do it at a place like Starbuck’s. Some people even pace while they think and pray. A typical devotion consists of reading a short passage in the bible, reflecting on it and then offering a prayer to God.

Our congregation has put together a Lenten Devotional Booklet for you to use. This booklet is a labor of love. It is the fruit of many dedicated Christians in the church to provide an excellent resource for your devotional time during the season of Lent when we are preparing our hearts and minds for the great events of Holy Week and Easter.
